Worldcoin (WLD) surged more than 31%, buoyed by news of a major venture investment.
According to the crypto-focused media outlet CryptoPotato on the 23rd, World Network recently announced that it has raised a total of $135 million in investment from a16z and Bain Capital Crypto. This funding was carried out via a private token sale. The funds raised will be used to deploy 7,500 Orb iris scan devices across the United States and to expand service to as many as 180 million people nationwide by the end of this year.
On this day, WLD soared 31.4% from $1.24 to $1.63 within one day. This marks a 164% rebound from the low recorded at the beginning of last month.
The project team stated, "This investment is for World’s long-term mission and was achieved with the support of early believers and builders."
Meanwhile, Worldcoin officially launched its service last month in six cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. Users can complete iris authentication to receive WLD tokens, which they can use to access features such as token-based lending, prediction markets, and usable Visa cards.
