The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) urged Iran to de-escalate tensions, while emphasizing that Israel has the right to defend itself.

According to News1 and others on the 16th (local time), through a joint statement at the G7 summit held in Canada, the leaders stated, "We affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself," and "We once again express our support for Israel's security."

Regarding Iran, they stressed, "We have consistently made it clear that Iran can never possess nuclear weapons," and "We urge that resolving the Iranian crisis will lead to a broad de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip."

U.S. President Donald Trump also agreed to this statement. Initially, President Trump was reported to have decided not to sign the joint statement calling for de-escalation between Iran and Israel.
