The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) called for de-escalation toward Iran, while emphasizing that Israel has the right to defend itself.

According to News1 and others on the 16th (local time), in a joint statement at the G7 summit held in Canada, the leaders declared, "We affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself," and added, "We once again express our support for Israel's security."

Regarding Iran, they stated, "We have consistently made it clear that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons," and emphasized, "We urge that a resolution to the Iran crisis should lead to a broad de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza."

Former US President Donald Trump also agreed to this statement. Initially, President Trump had reportedly decided not to sign the joint statement calling for de-escalation between Iran and Israel.
