The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) called on Iran to de-escalate tensions, while emphasizing Israel's right to self-defense.

According to sources such as News1 on the 16th (local time), in the joint statement of the G7 summit held in Canada, the leaders said, "We assert Israel’s right to defend itself" and added, "We once again express our support for Israel’s security."

Regarding Iran, they said, "We have continued to make clear that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons," and emphasized, "We urge that resolving the Iran crisis leads to a substantial de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza."

This statement was also agreed to by U.S. President Donald Trump. Initially, it was reported that President Trump had decided not to sign the joint statement calling for de-escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel.
