The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) have called for easing tensions with Iran, while emphasizing that Israel has the right to self-defense.
According to reports from News1 and others on the 16th (local time), through the joint statement from the G7 summit held in Canada, the leaders asserted, "We affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself," and added, "We once again express our support for Israel's security."
Regarding Iran, they stated, "We have continually made clear that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons," and stressed, "We urge for a resolution to the Iran crisis that leads to a broad de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip."
U.S. President Donald Trump also agreed to this statement. Trump was previously reported to have decided not to sign the joint statement calling for the easing of tensions between Iran and Israel.
