The G7 leaders called on Iran to ease tensions while emphasizing Israel's right to self-defense.

According to News1 and others on the 16th (local time), through the joint statement at the G7 summit held in Canada, the leaders declared, "We affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself," and added, "We once again express our support for Israel's security."

Regarding Iran, they stated, "We have continuously made it clear that Iran can never possess nuclear weapons," and stressed, "We urge that resolving the Iran crisis lead to a broad de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip."

The statement was also agreed to by U.S. President Donald Trump. Initially, President Trump was reported to have decided not to sign the joint statement urging the easing of tensions between Iran and Israel.
