The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) urged Iran to ease tensions while emphasizing Israel's right to self-defense.
According to News1 and others on the 16th (local time), the joint statement at the G7 summit held in Canada stated, "We affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself" and "We once again express our support for Israel's security."
Regarding Iran, they emphasized, "We have consistently made it clear that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons" and "We urge that a resolution to the Iranian crisis lead to a broad de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip."
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, also agreed to this statement. Initially, President Trump reportedly decided not to sign the joint statement calling for de-escalation between Iran and Israel.
