The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) called for de-escalation targeting Iran, while emphasizing that Israel has the right to self-defense.

According to News1 and others on the 16th (local time), through a joint statement from the G7 summit held in Canada, the leaders stated, "We affirm that Israel has the right to defend itself," and "We once again express our support for Israel's security."

Regarding Iran, they stressed, "We have consistently made it clear that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons," and "We urge that resolution of the Iran crisis lead to a broad de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza."

This statement was also agreed upon by US President Donald Trump. Initially, President Trump was reported to have decided not to sign the joint statement calling for de-escalation between Iran and Israel.
