KB Financial Group is set to discuss expanding cooperation with global stablecoin company Circle.

Yonhap News reported on June 6 that KB Financial executives will meet Circle co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Allaire on June 13 to discuss ways to work together on stablecoins.

KB Financial successfully completed a proof of concept in the second half of last year using Circle Mint, Circle's stablecoin issuance and management platform. Later that year, it also met key Circle executives, including President Heath Tarbert, to discuss jointly developing business models.

The two companies are reviewing cooperation in a range of areas, including the domestic use of global stablecoin USDC in South Korea, cross-border payments and the issuance of a won-based stablecoin.

A KB Financial official said the meeting could expand the partnership between the two companies to the next level.
