Iran, Arab States Welcome 10-Day Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire

Iran and other Middle Eastern countries welcomed a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
Esmail Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, told state media on June 16 that Tehran welcomed the truce, describing it as part of an agreement between Iran and the US brokered by Pakistan.
He credited Pakistan's efforts over the past 24 hours with helping secure the ceasefire and called on Israel to fully withdraw from the southern Lebanese territory it currently occupies.
Iran has strongly pushed for a ceasefire in Lebanon. Tehran also maintains that the Lebanon issue must be explicitly included in any future negotiations with the US on ending the war.
Other countries in the region also welcomed the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire agreement and called on both sides to uphold it.
The United Arab Emirates, in a statement posted on X, said it hoped the ceasefire would become a positive step toward creating conditions that support regional stability.
Saudi Arabia and Oman also welcomed the agreement on X, saying all relevant parties should comply with the terms of the ceasefire and work to avoid any violations that could undermine it.
Egypt called on Israel to comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. Adopted in 2006 to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, the resolution calls for a full Israeli military withdrawal from Lebanon and a halt to military action by both sides.
