Venture capital firm a16z Crypto said the CLARITY Act, a bill designed to bring regulatory clarity to the US digital-asset market, would help spur innovation in the country.

Cointelegraph reported on May 16 that a16z Crypto said providing US developers with regulatory clarity would support domestic innovation.

The firm cited the passage of the GENIUS Act in July 2025, which established a regulatory framework for stablecoins, as a sign of what could follow the CLARITY Act. It said the GENIUS Act drove unprecedented growth and adoption in stablecoins, benefiting the US economy and supporting the dollar's long-term dominance.

The Senate Banking Committee advanced the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act at a May 14 meeting. All 13 Republicans on the committee voted in favor, along with two Democrats, while nine Democrats voted against the measure.

Grayscale said in a report released on May 17 that the bill has a high likelihood of passing, though it would still need bipartisan support to clear the full Senate and become law. Republicans currently hold 53 seats in the chamber, meaning the measure would need support from at least seven Democrats.
