Bithumb to Mark Bitcoin Pizza Day With Pizza, Bitcoin Giveaway for First-Time Depositors

Bithumb, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange, is launching a Bitcoin Pizza Day promotion.
The exchange said May 18 that it will run the event through May 31 to mark Bitcoin Pizza Day on May 22, offering pizza and Bitcoin to first-time depositors. Bitcoin Pizza Day commemorates May 22, 2010, when a US investor bought two pizzas with 10,000 Bitcoin, the first known real-world purchase made with the cryptocurrency.
The event is open to users with no prior deposit record on Bithumb. To participate, users must complete the application on the event page and make a net deposit of at least 50,000 won, or about $36, during the promotional period.
Bithumb will give all eligible users Bitcoin worth 10,000 won, or about $7. The top 2,026 users by net deposit during the event period will also receive a gift certificate for Domino's Pizza's Grilled Patty Cheeseburger Pizza, hot wings and cola.
The top 10 users by net deposit will also get zero-fee trading on cumulative transactions of up to 100 million won, or about $72,500. The fee waiver will remain valid for 30 days from the payout date.
Net deposits will be calculated by subtracting withdrawals from total deposits made during the event period. For cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals, amounts will be calculated based on market prices at the time the transactions are completed. Internal asset transfers between users will not count toward the promotion, and participants must maintain their balance and ranking through June 5, the payout date, to receive the benefits.
Bitcoin rewards will be distributed based on the previous day's closing price. Coins received through the promotion must be traded at least once within 30 days. They can be withdrawn 30 days after distribution.
Moon Sun-il, Bithumb's head of service, called Bitcoin Pizza Day a symbolic date that showed cryptocurrency's value in everyday life. He added that the event would give users a chance to make their first deposit on Bithumb while reflecting on the meaning of Pizza Day.
