Israel Says It Expanded Ground Operations in Southern Lebanon to Remove Direct Threats
Forecast Trend Report by Period

The Israeli military said it has expanded the scope of its ground operations in southern Lebanon, as markets watch for a possible escalation in Middle East tensions and renewed volatility in oil prices.
Walter Bloomberg reported on May 26 that an Israeli military official said forces had expanded ground operations beyond the so-called Yellow Line in southern Lebanon. The official said the operation is intended to remove direct threats to Israeli civilians and troops.
Israel has recently intensified military operations in southern Lebanon, citing the threat of rocket and drone attacks by Hezbollah. The military is also pushing to widen a buffer zone near the border and dismantle Hezbollah's military infrastructure.
Tensions on the Lebanon front remain elevated even as the US and Iran continue talks on extending a ceasefire and over Tehran's nuclear program. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group, remains a key variable in the conflict between Iran and Israel.
Market participants say a broader military confrontation in the Middle East could add volatility to global financial markets, including crude oil and the dollar.
