President Donald Trump criticized former US Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler and what he called anti-crypto forces, saying they drove the US digital-asset industry overseas.

In a Truth Social post on May 27, Trump said Gensler and the “Anti-Crypto Army” had nearly destroyed the US crypto industry by pushing Bitcoin, perpetual crypto futures and broader innovation out of the country.

But his leadership saved it, Trump wrote, adding that the US is now the “Crypto Capital of the World” and that developers and entrepreneurs are returning to America.

Trump also said he would pursue crypto market-structure legislation. He said he would enact a future-proof legal framework for the crypto market that cannot be reversed by anti-crypto forces.

“The new frontier of finance is being built in America,” he wrote. “TRUMP will NEVER let Crypto down.”
