Woori Bank to Develop Digital Wallet for Foreign Visitors, Pilot Stablecoin Payments
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Woori Bank is partnering with fintech startup CrossHub to develop a digital wallet for foreign visitors to South Korea. The companies also plan to test domestic payment services using foreign currency-based stablecoins.
Woori Bank said June 11 that it signed a memorandum of understanding with CrossHub a day earlier at the bank's Digital Tower in Seoul's Jung district. The agreement covers joint service development and efforts to improve payment convenience for foreign travelers visiting South Korea.
The two companies aim to launch the foreigner-only digital wallet in the second half of this year. The service is designed to let users make payments on major daily-life platforms in South Korea, including transportation, delivery and shopping, without additional authentication after registering passport information and a payment method once.
They also plan to roll out a dedicated prepaid card that foreign visitors can load in their home currency and use in South Korea. The card is intended to improve payment access for tourists unfamiliar with the country's payment systems.
The companies will also test a domestic payment environment using foreign currency-based stablecoins. The pilot will examine whether next-generation payment infrastructure can make spending easier for foreign visitors.
CrossHub participates in DINNOlab, Woori Financial Group's startup incubation program. The company won a CES 2026 Best Innovation Award and was also selected by South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT as a global ICT future unicorn company.
Lee Chang-hwan, deputy head of Woori Bank's Digital Innovation Department, said the partnership is aimed at improving financial access and payment convenience for foreign visitors to South Korea. He added that the bank will broaden collaboration with innovative startups and strengthen its digital finance competitiveness through trials of future financial technology.
