President Donald Trump still expects an agreement between the U.S. and Iran to be signed this weekend or early next week, Axios reported.
Axios reported on June 12 that Trump sees a deal with Iran being signed over the weekend or as early as Monday.
Trump has recently argued that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are effectively in their final stage, with only the drafting of the final document left.
He has also said the agreement could be signed in Europe as early as this week and that a deal would block Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, however, has maintained that it has not yet made a final decision.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said it is reviewing the draft agreement and will make an official announcement once the relevant authorities reach a conclusion.
Fars, Iran's semi-official news agency, reported that the U.S. had accepted language proposed by Iran and that the draft is likely to be approved.
Markets view the U.S. and Iran as being close to a final agreement, though uncertainty may persist until an actual signing because official approval procedures remain in both countries.
