Aave founder Stani Kulechov said the “spokes” structure in Aave V4 will be central to expanding liquidity and creating new revenue opportunities for the decentralized-finance lending protocol.
On June 15, Kulechov wrote on X that “Aave V4 spokes are important to Aave.” He described the spokes as lending markets that can scale across general-purpose and customized use cases.
He said the speed of change in DeFi makes it difficult for Aave to build every feature itself. “DeFi moves incredibly fast, and even if we want to, building everything ourselves takes a lot of time,” Kulechov wrote.
The spoke structure would expand Aave’s liquidity into a range of sectors through partnerships with specialist external teams. He said Aave could collaborate with teams focused on automated market makers, perpetual futures, fixed-rate lending, and crypto-asset or securities custody.
“Partners get access to Aave’s deep liquidity and distribution network, while Aave gains speed, expertise and new monetization opportunities,” he wrote. Aave DAO would earn revenue through fee-sharing, he added, with implementation designed to expand directly at the protocol level.
Kulechov called Aave V4 spokes an advantage in scale, speed and monetization, adding that “Aave will win.”
