Singapore-based stablecoin issuer StraitsX is adding Samsung Pay support to its card issuance infrastructure.
StraitsX announced on its official X account on June 17 that issuers can now offer Samsung Wallet provisioning alongside Apple Pay and Google Pay.
The company said the Samsung Pay integration will help maximize its reach in mobile-first markets such as South Korea. It added that Samsung Wallet has more than 18.6 million users in South Korea and that the move will expand real-world payment use across more than 60 countries.
Users of cards linked to StraitsX-based stablecoins can add them to Samsung Wallet and use them for contactless payments. Ten Yao, StraitsX's head of commercial, said stablecoin cards must work in the payment environments people use every day to have real-world utility.
