US House to Hold June 25 Roundtable on Digital Finance

The US House of Representatives will hold a roundtable on the role of cryptocurrencies in expanding financial freedom and their implications for national security.
Odaily reported on June 20 that Rep. William Timmons, chairman of the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Subcommittee, will host a June 25 roundtable titled "The Two Sides of Digital Coins: Protecting American Security Against Oppressive Foreign Regimes."
The discussion will cover how digital assets and cryptocurrencies can help protect individual wealth and expand access to financial support, as well as their impact on maintaining "economic sovereignty."
Participants will also examine the intersection of digital finance and US national security. They plan to review policy approaches and ways to foster financial innovation so the US can remain competitive in digital finance.
Expected participants include Dustin Palmer, anti-money laundering officer at Anchorage Digital Bank; Jorge Jraissati, president of the Economic Inclusion Group; and Cody Carbone, chief executive officer of the Digital Chamber.
