President Donald Trump said June 24 that Iran had told the US it was not collecting any fees from vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that, "despite troublemaking fake news reporting the opposite of the facts," Iran had informed the US that there were "no tolls, insurance charges or fees of any kind demanded or received in the Strait of Hormuz."
If that notification is false, follow-up negotiations after the ceasefire agreement will end immediately, he added.
Trump also said the US has never provided money to Iran or released any of its overseas frozen funds to the country.
He also claimed that some of Iran's funds, which he said are under full US control, would be paid to American farmers and ranchers to buy US corn, wheat and soybeans.
"Iran desperately needs food, and we will make them buy it only from the United States," Trump wrote.
