US Lawmakers Press Bessent to Back New Russia Sanctions Targeting Energy Buyers
Forecast Trend Report by Period

U.S. lawmakers from both parties plan to press Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to support additional sanctions on Russia.
Walter Bloomberg reported on July 7 that the lawmakers plan to urge Bessent during the NATO summit to back the pending legislation.
The bill would allow sanctions and tariffs to be imposed on countries that buy Russian oil, gas and uranium.
Supporters of the measure argue that economic pressure on Russia must be increased to advance peace talks on Ukraine.
