DOJ Says Binance Asset Freezes in Crypto Cases to Face Stricter Process
Forecast Trend Report by Period

The U.S. Department of Justice has internally advised that the process for securing Binance’s cooperation in cryptocurrency investigations will become more stringent, BeInCrypto reported.
BeInCrypto reported on July 8 that the DOJ sent an internal memo to prosecutors handling digital-asset cases saying Binance will no longer provide its so-called Courtesy Freeze service.
The memo said Binance will require authorities to first use formal legal procedures, including the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, or MLAT, process, for requests to freeze accounts or seize assets. Because MLAT requests require government-to-government coordination, the process can take from several weeks to several months.
Binance denied the report, saying there has been no change in its cooperation with U.S. law enforcement.
