Tiger Research said the expansion of digital assets into institutional finance is increasing the importance of reliable data infrastructure.

In its report, the firm said on-chain data is publicly available but is not in a form that traditional financial systems can use immediately. Blockchain data is effectively raw data that must be indexed, decoded and normalized, making separate infrastructure necessary for financial institutions to use it at the required standard.

Tiger Research identified completeness, consistency and stability as the core requirements for on-chain data infrastructure in institutional finance. Missing transaction data, or a failure to properly reflect blockchain reorganizations, or reorgs, and network errors, can lead to mistakes in balance calculations, settlement and all subsequent uses of the data. In a 24-hour blockchain environment, the report added, institutions also need infrastructure that can respond in real time during chain upgrades.

As an example that meets those requirements, the report highlighted DataShare, the on-chain data platform of Lambda256, the blockchain technology subsidiary of Dunamu.

DataShare uses its own indexing engine to normalize data spread across multiple blockchains into a format suited to financial institutions' existing operating environments. The collected data is cross-checked against blockchain ledgers, and the system is designed to provide stable service even during heavy request volumes and node failures. The report said the platform also meets financial-sector security and network-separation requirements through on-premises deployment based on domestic internet data centers and SOC 2 certification.

The report cited real-world asset tokenization, or RWA, and AI-based payment systems as key use cases. As more listed shares are issued on blockchains in token form, financial institutions face a new task of accurately identifying investors' token holdings when paying dividends or exercising voting rights. In agentic payment environments, where AI executes payments, infrastructure that can provide accurate finalized data is also essential.

"Every financial process, from asset issuance to payments and settlement, is being reorganized around on-chain data," Cho Yoon-sung, a senior researcher at Tiger Research, said. "Because missing or inaccurate data can create regulatory risk that goes beyond service reliability, the choice of data infrastructure is the starting point for building a successful digital-asset service."
