Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reaffirmed plans to strengthen government support for startups and the Web3 industry.
In a video message sent to the WebX 2026 event, Takaichi said the government would expand startup funding through state-backed funds and financial institutions, while easing regulations, Wu Blockchain reported on July 13.
She added that the government’s support measures, together with WebX, could help underpin the development of Japan’s Web3 innovation ecosystem.
WebX is Japan’s largest Web3 and blockchain conference, bringing together global blockchain companies, investors and policy officials. Japan’s government has recently expanded regulatory reforms and industry support measures as it works to foster Web3 and digital assets as future growth drivers.
