Ripple Joins Linux Foundation’s x402 Foundation

Ripple has joined the x402 Foundation under the Linux Foundation.

CoinDesk reported on July 15 that the Linux Foundation has launched formal governance for the x402 Foundation with 40 member companies. The transfer of the x402 protocol, developed by Coinbase, has also been completed.

Premier members include Ripple, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Stripe, Adyen, Fiserv, Shopify, Google, Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare, Circle, MoonPay, the Solana Foundation and the Stellar Development Foundation.

x402 is an internet payments protocol designed to let software pay each other without human intervention.
