US Central Command said it had successfully concluded seven consecutive days of high-intensity military strikes on Iran. Alongside the air campaign, the US military also fully enforced a naval blockade of Iranian ports, ratcheting up pressure to its highest level.

Central Command said the seven-night airstrike operation against Iran ended at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time on July 17.

The operation was aimed at fundamentally crippling Iran’s ability to conduct military operations. The US military said it caused extensive damage through precision strikes on key surveillance bases, munitions logistics infrastructure, underground weapons depots and naval maneuvering capabilities. Advanced fighter jets, attack drones and guided-missile destroyers deployed at sea were among the main strategic assets used in the operation.

Military control at sea has continued after the air campaign ended. The US military is still enforcing a strict naval blockade that cuts off all routes into and out of Iranian ports. In the first three days after the blockade resumed, Central Command redirected four merchant vessels, disabled one ship and conducted a boarding inspection of another. It said tight surveillance remains in place to ensure full sanctions enforcement.

More than 50,000 US troops are currently deployed across the Middle East and are prepared for any contingency. Central Command said all forces remain at the highest level of alert and retain the ability to deliver immediate lethal strikes.
