A new malware strain that targets digital-asset investors and steals wallet information and browser data has been identified. The malware is called OkoBot.

Cointelegraph reported on July 18 that cybersecurity firm Kaspersky had identified a malware framework it dubbed OkoBot and detected multiple attacks using the malware family since January.

Kaspersky said OkoBot infects devices by tricking users into running malicious commands themselves or through GitHub applications disguised as legitimate software. Once a device is infected, the malware collects digital-asset wallet files, browser data and user account information. It also attempts to steal assets by inserting malicious browser extensions or capturing wallet application screens.
