Drift Hacker Sends 23,095 Ether Worth $44.4 Million to Tornado Cash

A hacker behind the Drift Protocol exploit has moved a large amount of Ether to the crypto mixing protocol Tornado Cash.
BlockBeats reported on July 24, citing data from blockchain security firm PeckShield, that an address believed to be linked to the Drift hacker recently deposited about 23,095 Ether into Tornado Cash. The funds were worth an estimated $44.4 million at the time of the transfer.
Drift suffered a $285 million hack in April. The hacker converted a substantial portion of the stolen assets into Ether and dispersed the funds across multiple addresses. The hacker resumed moving the stolen funds on July 23 after a roughly three-month pause.
The same address was also found to have transferred 0.85 Ether to global cryptocurrency exchange Bybit. The specific purpose of that transaction was not confirmed.
Tornado Cash is a protocol that mixes cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals, making it difficult to trace the flow of funds and identify the parties behind transactions.
