Strategy's recent pause in Bitcoin purchases does not mark a shift in its long-term accumulation strategy, according to an analysis.

CryptoQuant contributor XWIN Japan wrote on July 28 that Strategy did not buy additional Bitcoin between July 20 and July 26. Instead, the company sold 5.43 million MSTR shares during that period, raising about $544.5 million, and repurchased $25 million of its STRC preferred stock.

Because Strategy is one of the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holders, the pause in buying could be interpreted by the market as a bearish signal, XWIN Japan said. The company's steady Bitcoin purchases have been a support for market sentiment.

Still, Strategy did not sell any of its Bitcoin. Its holdings remained unchanged at 843,775 BTC, with an average acquisition price of $75,476.

Its cash position also expanded. Strategy's dollar holdings rose to $3.75 billion, giving it capacity to buy more Bitcoin depending on market conditions. In the past, the company has raised money in the stock and bond markets and used the proceeds to purchase Bitcoin.

XWIN Japan described the latest pause as a tactical lull rather than a change in Strategy's long-term Bitcoin strategy. The larger cash balance signals preparation for its next move, not an exit from Bitcoin.

The focus should be on whether Strategy maintains its approach of accumulating Bitcoin as a long-term treasury asset, rather than on a short-term gap in purchases, XWIN Japan added.
