Senate Republicans have again blocked a resolution calling on President Donald Trump to withdraw US forces from hostilities with Iran, The Hill reported on July 30.
The Senate voted 49-50 on July 30 against a motion to bring the War Powers resolution to the floor. The measure, put forward by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, says hostilities against Iran should not continue without congressional approval.
The Hill reported that concern is growing within the Republican Party over a broader war and higher energy prices, but GOP lawmakers again prevented the resolution from advancing. The vote was the 13th in the Senate related to the Iran War Powers resolution, and Republicans had previously blocked a resolution to halt the war 11 times.
