Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran did not yield to US pressure, arguing that Washington's early-war expectation of Tehran's “unconditional surrender” had fallen apart.
Odaily, a cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, reported on August 11, citing CCTV International Commentary, that Araghchi said “no one thought Iran would be able to withstand the United States.” Despite pressure from the US, Israel and other Western countries, Iran “did not bow its head,” he said.
Araghchi also said Iran's resistance shattered what he called the US illusion at the start of the war that Tehran would accept “unconditional surrender.”
He added that the US began seeking negotiations 20 days after the war began.
