President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with senior figures from the cryptocurrency and prediction-market industries at the White House complex.

The Block reported on August 15 that Trump will meet industry representatives on August 19 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington.

CFTC Chairman Brian Quintenz is also expected to attend. Bloomberg reported that SEC Chairman Paul Atkins will join the meeting as well.

Invitees include representatives from Coinbase, Ripple, Chainlink, Kalshi, Paradigm, Andreessen Horowitz, known as a16z, and the Digital Chamber. Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House's digital assets advisory council, is also expected to attend.

The meeting is being held ahead of the first session of the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee on August 20. The panel will meet from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and focus on three areas: crypto regulation, artificial intelligence and prediction markets.

Its 35 members include Polymarket Chief Executive Officer Shayne Coplan, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, along with representatives from Cboe, CME Group, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. and Nasdaq.

The meeting comes as Senate consideration of the CLARITY Act, a bill to establish a regulatory framework for the structure of the US crypto market, has stalled. Senate Majority Leader John Thune recently set a September 15 cloture vote to advance debate on the bill. Cloture requires support from 60 senators, and even if the motion passes, the legislation would still need a final vote.

Regulatory authority over prediction markets is also emerging as a key issue. The CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee plans to discuss the roles of federal and state governments in overseeing prediction markets, as well as recent lawsuits and enforcement actions in several states.

Quintenz has repeatedly argued that the CFTC has jurisdiction over event contracts tied to outcomes such as elections and sports contests. The agency has also sued several states in response to state-level regulatory moves against Kalshi and Polymarket. Trump backed that position in May, saying the CFTC's exclusive jurisdiction over prediction markets is "very important."

The White House meeting may therefore address not only crypto market-structure legislation, but also the conflict between federal and state authorities over oversight of prediction markets.
