Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has launched a developer platform that allows AI agents to handle tasks from checking market data to executing trades.
Cointelegraph reported on Aug. 20 that Binance had introduced Agent OS, a platform that lets AI agents retrieve market data, monitor accounts and place trades.
Agent OS integrates with major AI tools including ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. Users can give AI agents permission to view accounts and trade. They can also assign separate subaccounts to keep assets and trading records segregated.
Users retain direct control over permissions and can revoke access at any time. Binance said it can monitor trades executed through Agent OS, but it cannot see what information an AI agent gathers externally or how it reaches its decisions.
Agent OS goes beyond basic trading functions. It also connects with Binance’s payments and on-chain services to support wallet management and on-chain payments.
Major cryptocurrency exchanges have been stepping up efforts to build AI agent infrastructure. Coinbase rolled out Coinbase for Agents in June, allowing AI models to connect to user accounts and execute trades and payments.
Kraken introduced an AI investment assistant in July that provides market monitoring and trade recommendations. Users must still give final approval before any trade is executed.
OKX is also operating a beta marketplace where AI agents can hire other agents and trade autonomously using stablecoin payments and an on-chain reputation system.
Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao previously described cryptocurrency as the “native currency” of AI agents and said their share of on-chain activity would expand significantly over time.
