Layer-1 blockchain Injective (INJ) has registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission as a securities transfer agent, expanding its real-world asset tokenization business for institutional clients.

Bitcoin.com reported on August 21 that Injective said its institutional services unit had registered with the SEC as a transfer agent. The company said it is the first layer-1 blockchain to obtain SEC transfer agent status.

A transfer agent manages official ownership records for securities and handles share transfers, dividend distributions and shareholder administration. Injective said the registration allows it to use blockchain infrastructure for those functions while complying with US securities regulations.

Injective said the transfer agent registration means it has established the regulatory record-keeping framework required by US capital markets. It also said it has built the full infrastructure needed for on-chain capital markets.
