Ethereum Buying Pressure Picks Up as Taker Ratio Tops 1; Upside Momentum Seen Strengthening if It Holds

Source

Summary

  • CryptoQuant contributor Arab Chain said Ethereum's Taker Buy/Sell Ratio rose to about 1.11, moving above the benchmark level of 1 and indicating that buying pressure has the upper hand in the short term.
  • Arab Chain said Ethereum's upside momentum could strengthen further if the ratio holds above 1 and is accompanied by rising trading volume and price gains.
  • If the taker ratio repeatedly falls back below 1, selling pressure could build again and buying momentum could weaken, making the ratio's ability to remain steadily above 1 the key gauge of whether further gains are possible.

Ethereum's market-buying pressure is outpacing selling, raising the prospect of stronger price momentum if that buying advantage persists.

CryptoQuant contributor Arab Chain wrote on September 7 that Ethereum's Taker Buy/Sell Ratio on Binance stood at about 1.11, above the benchmark level of 1. Ethereum was trading near $2,400 at the time of the analysis.

The Taker Buy/Sell Ratio measures the relative strength of market buy orders against market sell orders. A reading above 1 means aggressive buy orders outnumber sell orders. With the ratio rising to 1.11, buying pressure appears to have the upper hand in the short term.

Arab Chain said whether the ratio remains above 1 will be a key variable in Ethereum's near-term direction. If buyer dominance continues over the next few days and is accompanied by rising trading volume and higher prices, upside momentum could strengthen further. If the ratio repeatedly falls back below 1, however, selling pressure may build again and weaken buying momentum.

Still, the contributor said it is too early to conclude that a clear uptrend has been established. The ratio has recently climbed above 1.10 only to fall back below 1 again, signaling an ongoing tug of war between buyers and sellers. Whether the ratio can hold steadily above 1 and translate into stronger volume and price gains will likely determine if Ethereum can extend its advance.
