Former Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz said XRP could eventually surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization.

CoinGape reported on Sept. 9 that Schwartz made the remarks on X, formerly Twitter, in response to a question during an X Space about whether XRP could overtake Bitcoin. He said that would happen not because Bitcoin loses value, but because XRP rises faster.

Schwartz said XRP could appreciate more quickly if use of the XRP Ledger continues to expand. He also said the network has substantial room for further technical growth.

He added that users may favor features not available on Bitcoin, and that broader functionality and use cases for the XRP Ledger could become drivers of future growth.
