Samsung Securities is expanding cooperation with U.S. financial group BNY in new business areas including digital assets and artificial intelligence.

Samsung Securities signed a memorandum of understanding with BNY at the firm's New York headquarters on Sept. 10 to cooperate on global wealth management and financial solutions, the Seoul Economic Daily reported on Sept. 13.

The two companies plan to enhance infrastructure for their existing securities businesses, including stock brokerage and clearing, securities collateral management and securities financing. They also plan to explore cooperation in digital assets and AI.

BNY, founded in 1784, is a U.S. financial group that provides custody and investment services, asset management and capital-markets solutions. Samsung Securities plans to use BNY's global financial infrastructure and network to expand cooperation in digital finance as well as traditional finance.

Samsung Securities President Park Jong-moon also met with major global financial firms including Morgan Stanley during the U.S. trip to discuss cooperation on overseas investment information and financial services.
