Hana Financial Group has ushered in its Cheongna era in Incheon, completing the Hana Financial Town project 14 years after signing its first agreement with the city in 2012.
The group said it moved its headquarters, data center and global talent development center, Hana Global Campus, to Cheongna International City in Seo-gu, Incheon, and held an opening ceremony for the headquarters on Oct. 2.
About 2,200 employees from 10 affiliates, including Hana Financial Group, Hana Bank, Hana Securities and Hana Card, will relocate to the headquarters in phases. Including staff already working at the integrated data center, Hana Financial Town will be home to about 4,000 finance and IT professionals.
Hana Financial estimates the headquarters relocation will generate about 3.4 trillion won ($2.45 billion) in direct and indirect economic impact over the next 10 years. It also projects direct and indirect employment effects of about 15,000 jobs, including the inflow of partner companies.
An official at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority said Cheongna's concentration of a financial group's headquarters and key affiliates, IT infrastructure at the integrated data center, AI research and development functions, and global finance talent training capabilities would further strengthen an industrial ecosystem linking finance with IT, data and digital industries.
