President Donald Trump announced the launch of a government-wide "Super Intelligence Task Force," or SIF, aimed at strengthening US global leadership in artificial-intelligence superintelligence.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Oct. 4 that he was announcing the formation of the task force following a "historic White House Super Intelligence Accord." He said major technology companies had previously gathered at the White House and affirmed their responsibility to the American people.

According to Trump, the SIF will coordinate the federal government's response to help ensure the US continues to lead the world in superintelligence. He described superintelligence as a change that many people say will be bigger than the Industrial Revolution or the internet, adding that it would protect Americans' interests and improve their lives.

The SIF will coordinate cooperation between the federal government and consumer groups, public-interest organizations, religious groups, critical infrastructure operators and companies involved in superintelligence.

Trump said the task force will include Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Emil Michael, former under secretary of defense for research and engineering and chief technology officer, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.

The SIF will be structured to report directly to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
