Lily Liu, chair of the Solana Foundation, said the core value of asset tokenization lies in expanding investment access to U.S. assets.

Speaking at Token2049 in Singapore on October 7, Liu said tokenization is not about competing with existing platforms for retail investors. Instead, it is about using blockchain to broaden the channels through which global investors can access U.S. assets, according to BlockBeats.

Liu said that even when the stock market capitalizations of more than 160 countries are combined, they account for only a little more than 5% of global equity market value.

That, she said, shows blockchain and tokenized assets still have substantial room to grow in the global asset market.

Liu also expressed optimism about crypto markets. While artificial intelligence is drawing investor attention and capital, the cryptocurrency market's recovery will continue over the next 12 months, she said.
