Sui Tops 40.61 Million TPS in Offchain Test Targeting AI Trading
Summary
- Layer-1 blockchain Sui (SUI) said it recorded peak throughput of 40,614,180 transactions per second in a stress test of its offchain channel technology, Sui Tunnel.
- The demonstration opened more than 10,000 tunnels on the mainnet to process several types of transactions, including payments, gaming and chat.
- Mysten Labs said Sui was designed for an era of high-frequency trading by AI agents, and that security auditor CertiK independently verified the demonstration, with a report expected within days.
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Layer-1 blockchain Sui said it processed more than 40.61 million transactions per second in a stress test designed to simulate high-frequency trading by artificial intelligence agents.
Cointelegraph reported on October 7 that Sui demonstrated its offchain channel technology, Sui Tunnel, at Sui Basecamp in Singapore. Peak throughput reached 40,614,180 transactions per second, about 6.7 times the roughly 6.1 million recorded in a similar test in July.
The figure is distinct from on-chain transaction volume handled directly by the Sui mainnet. Sui Tunnel processes individual transactions offchain and settles the final result on the blockchain when a channel closes. In the test, more than 10,000 tunnels were opened on the mainnet to handle several types of transactions, including payments, gaming and chat.
Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs, said no market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second, let alone 40 million. Humans do not move that fast, he said, but AI agents do. Sui was built for an era in which millions of AI agents transact every day.
Security auditor CertiK participated in the demonstration as an independent auditor. A verification report on the processing performance is expected within days.
