World, the biometric identity project backed by Sam Altman, has launched a Zoom badge feature worldwide to verify whether meeting participants are real humans.

Cointelegraph reported on October 19 that World said “World ID for Zoom” had officially launched on the Zoom Marketplace that day. The feature compares images captured by World’s iris-scanning device, the Orb, with a live selfie and a participant’s video feed. When the system confirms the participant is a real human, it displays a “Human Badge” visible to other meeting participants.

World first disclosed plans for a Zoom integration in April during a limited beta test with asset manager VanEck. With the full launch, it also named financial firms including Bain Capital and Pantera Capital as early design partners.

The rollout comes as cases of impersonation using AI deepfakes continue to emerge. In 2024, an employee at engineering firm Arup was tricked into wiring about $25 million to fraudsters posing as company executives during a video meeting. In February 2026, North Korea-linked hackers were also found to have used manipulated video feeds in fake Zoom meetings to induce employees at crypto and fintech companies to install malware.

In a statement provided to Fortune, World said World ID for Zoom was designed to protect sensitive and important conversations by proving that a real, unique human is attending the meeting.
