XRP Whale Outflows to Lowest in Five Years as Large-Scale Accumulation Demand Weakens
Summary
- On-chain analyst Darkfost said the XRP, whale outflows, and 90-day moving average of transfers from Binance to whale wallets had fallen to about $49.7 million, the lowest level in five years.
- He said current whale interest and large-scale accumulation demand had weakened compared with February 2025, when the XRP whale outflow level and 90-day moving average reached $3.5 billion, while daily outflows topped $10 billion.
- Darkfost added that if whale demand does not recover over the long term, XRP could face a shortage of XRP buy-side trading volume, though trading volume, market interest, and this indicator alone are not enough to determine the future price direction.
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Whale accumulation of XRP has contracted to its weakest level in the past five years, according to an on-chain analysis.
On Oct. 20, on-chain analyst Darkfost wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that the 90-day moving average of XRP flowing from Binance to whale wallets had fallen to about $49.7 million. That is the lowest level since October 2021.
Large transfers from exchanges to external wallets are typically used as a gauge of whale accumulation.
Darkfost said the 90-day moving average of XRP whale outflows rose to about $3.5 billion in February 2025. At that time, daily outflows topped $10 billion on several occasions.
Since then, whale outflows have steadily declined and now stand at their lowest level in five years. Darkfost wrote that whale interest in XRP is gradually fading and that some investors may be waiting for a price level that would justify re-entering the market.
He also cited XRP's relatively resilient price action during the current downturn as a reason whale accumulation has slowed. Prices may not have fallen enough to trigger the kind of large-scale buying seen in 2022 and 2023.
Over the longer term, Darkfost said XRP could face a shortage of buy-side volume if whale demand does not return. He added, however, that trends sometimes reverse when trading volume and market interest are deeply subdued, meaning this indicator alone is not enough to determine XRP's future price direction.
