President Donald Trump is set to highlight progress in a crackdown on cryptocurrency investment scams targeting Americans at a White House event.

Reuters reported on October 21 that Trump plans to outline efforts to seize fraudulent cryptocurrency investment websites at a cybercrime prevention event at the White House later that day.

The event will include the secretaries of Homeland Security, Defense and Justice, as well as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. An FBI report cited by Reuters said reports of internet fraud targeting Americans topped 1 million last year, up 17% from 2024.

Trump signed an executive order in March directing the Justice Department to prioritize identifying and prosecuting online fraudsters. He later had the Department of Homeland Security work with private companies to monitor overseas hacking and criminal groups.
