Intercontinental Exchange Inc., the parent of the New York Stock Exchange, plans to launch Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures in the US.
Bloomberg reported on October 29 that ICE is preparing to roll out the new products in partnership with Trade.xyz, a provider of perpetual futures infrastructure in the Hyperliquid ecosystem.
As part of the partnership, ICE will also take an equity stake in Trade.xyz. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The perpetual futures contracts will use Hyperliquid’s blockchain infrastructure. ICE plans to link the contracts to prices for stocks, equity indexes, commodities and currencies available through Trade.xyz.
Perpetual futures are derivatives with no expiration date. They let traders bet on price moves without directly holding the underlying asset. They are typically traded around the clock and can be used with leverage. Trade.xyz has been credited with expanding Hyperliquid’s perpetual futures market into traditional assets such as crude oil and stock indexes.
At present, neither Hyperliquid nor Trade.xyz offers services to users in the US. ICE selected Trade.xyz as its partner to launch perpetual futures within the US regulatory framework.
In the US, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has this year allowed domestic companies to launch perpetual futures, prompting a wave of related product rollouts. Kalshi and Coinbase, which recently began offering perpetual futures trading, are among the leading examples.
